Do You Like Who You Are?????

Well do you?

Why do we sometimes feel the need to change?  For me, when I begin self-examining, most of the time, what I see is all that I’m not.  I’ve become an expert at comparison.  I tend to admire the qualities, talents, and abilities in others that God left out in me.  Somehow, what others have that I don’t, leaves me feeling less than whole.

At some moment in eternity (if eternity has moments), God had an idea.  The One defined as love, once again found Himself driven to express His love.  Of course, as always, none of those listening to His new idea in heaven dare accuse Him of copying a previous one.  Nothing in God’s creation falls off an assembly line.  Like He had done each time before, God was about to pull out from nowhere another one-of-a-kind.

As true with any artist, before lifting a finger to bring His genius into existence, God saw the complete idea in His mind.  From beginning to end.  Of course, all the in-between stuff, He planned for too.  Even down to the last detail.  It’s in the finite, differentiating details that God best expresses His majesty.

And so what began as an idea in eternity became reality in time.

You were born.

Could God ever have a half-baked idea?  Take you for example. Yes, you have weaknesses, faults, and in some areas go without talent.  But don’t you think a God who so meticulously created you had a reason in mind when He left some of the things in you undone?

Every idea born in the mind of God serves a single purpose, a way for Him to express His love.  You, as a living, breathing, manifestation of an idea of God’s, are no different.

Yet, you go way beyond just an expression of God’s love.  You’ve been created as a receiver of His love.  Without receiving a moment-by-moment deposit of love, your life can’t go anywhere.  He made you EXACTLY as He did to receive EXACTLY the love He has to give, so you could move and breathe, and find fulfillment in life.

So why would you ever feel the need to change anything about yourself?

*What if you can’t seem to get your life organized?
Love doesn’t require prioritization.

*What if routinely, you speak without thinking?
Love isn’t into perfection.

*What if you can’t make timely decisions?
Love never hurries.

*What if the mirror reflects back something other than perfection?
Love sees blindly.

The love God gives you fits exactly the way He created you.  All of the empty holes you see in your life, God sees as ways to fill you with His love.  Try to fill one hole on your own, and you cheat yourself out of an experience with God.

The world constantly proclaims your need to change.  Change what you like, what you do, and even change who you are.

But God’s original idea is much better.
He doesn’t want you to change a thing.
He loves you just as you are.
